Safety and ethical standards are key issues for future mobility solutions. SMLL offers data, testing, modelling and research expertise to establish effective new policies for a wide range of use cases.

Evidence for Policy & standards Development

Ultimately, we believe that automation, and a connected infrastructure, will improve road safety and reduce fatalities by eradicating risks from human errors of performance and judgement. But to achieve that goal, stringent standards need to be met to prove the safety and reliability of CAVs and their support systems and infrastructure on the road in real-world environments.

Developing policy and legislation for the changing environment is a top priority. Vehicle operators need to be accountable for safe practices. Citizens need to be confident that they are safe on foot or while they are using and sharing the road with CAVs. National and international safety and quality standards must be applied, so different solutions and technologies can work effectively together.

SMLL’s team can:

  • Help policy makers research and define CAV regulations and legislation

  • Help organisations to accumulate evidence that their service or solution operates effectively and safely

  • Provide a proven and systematic approach to safety and quality testing, along with trusted SMLL corroboration of commercial evidence and tests
